Black History Month
We read so many great books back in February to celebrate and learn about Black History! Students noticed some common themes with Hispanic Heritage Month, and they empathized very strongly when characters faced injustice. It was a beautiful month of coming together in kindness and understanding and learning more about how all people deserve to be treated with respect, no matter what they look like or where they come from. A Laugh-Out-Loud New Year
I can't believe we've already been through a whole month of 2026! To kick off the new year, I wanted to read books that made us laugh. Learning About the Past
The past few weeks, we have learned a lot about fossils and Native Georgians. The kids really enjoy learning about the past and exploring how it informs our present and future. They have been so curious and always have questions and comments to share! I don't think the class will ever tire of learning about fossils, and they love looking for books about Native Georgians and other Indigenous peoples in the library. Fossils Stone Girl Bone Girl: The Story of Mary Anning writte

Hispanic Heritage Month
October was filled with books that celebrate Hispanic Heritage! The kids and I had so many favorites (and you've probably seen a couple that they found in the school library). Here are our top 7: Mistaco written & illustrated by Eliza Kinkz Mistaco: A Tale of Tragedy y Tortillas ( intentionally written in "Spanglish" ) was definitely the class favorite! Poor Izzy seems to always make mistakes, so when it's tortilla-making day, she is NOT happy. Her family comes to the rescu
